Product Overview
The Hope Shores single origin roast 'BeSuVa' is made with organic beans from Aceh, a region in northern Sumatra. The beans grown in this region have an herbal but sweet and nutty profile with hints of warm spices. The dark roast brings out the most of these flavors and helps develop a smooth mouthfeel. The name, BeSuVa, comes from Hopes Shores Alliance movement for everyday citizens to become everyday advocates. These everday advocates Believe, Support, and Validate those that are healing from trauma and abuse.
BeSuVa is roasted by Boom Town Roasters, a woman owned business in Alpena, Michigan. The beans are sourced from a collective of woman producers in Sumatra, and every bag is purchased at a gender-equity premium that goes directly to the producers. Boom Town’s founders selected this coffee bean to lift up women in business and promote the movement to end violence. While the vast majority of gender-based violence impacts women, this does not mean that violence does not impact other genders. Hope Shores Alliance serves all survivors, regardless of gender identity because violence affects all kinds of people across the gender spectrum.
For every 12 oz bag of BeSuVa purchased, we will make a donation to Hope Shores Alliance. Hope Shores Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, has served northeast Michigan since 1977, and is the recognized agency to provide comprehensive services to all survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and/or stalking across five counties in northeast Michigan that include Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency and Presque Isle, which encompasses 3,001 square land miles. Hope Shores Alliance provides individual supportive services to primary and secondary survivors of violence across the lifespan as well as systems level change, trainings, and presentations in order to end domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
